European football’s governing body will elect a new president on 14 September 2016 at its congress, which is scheduled to take place in Athens. The presidential elections are being contested by Michael van Praag from Netherlands and Aleksander Ceferin from Slovenia. The Georgian Football Federation president Levan Kobiashvili and general secretary David Mujiri met the UEFA presidential candidates in August and familiarised themselves with their visions, plans and action strategies.
As a result of meetings and consultations, the Georgian Football Federation has made the decision, and wishes to announce, that it will be supporting Mr. Ceferin’s candidacy at the upcoming UEFA presidential elections, as it fully shares his vision with regards to the development of the game of football.
We believe that all of his activities will be conducted in the best interests of the game.
